{"id":3533,"date":"2023-03-02T13:33:16","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T19:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianbeefindustryconference.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=3533"},"modified":"2026-05-04T23:30:56","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T04:30:56","slug":"poster-competition-2026","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/canadianbeefindustryconference.com\/wordpress\/poster-competition-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Beef Industry Poster Competition 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><\/h6>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\">The<strong> Canadian Beef Industry Conference (CBIC)\u00a0Student Poster Competition is Back for 2026!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Conference dates:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>August 18\u201320, 2026<\/strong>, at the RBC Convention Centre, Winnipeg, MB<\/p>\n<p>Abstract Submission Deadline: <strong>June 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM MT\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/1gs9AofA982iDfor7\"><strong>[SUBMIT HERE]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The poster competition is open to all post-secondary students and will be divided into two streams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>College \/ Undergraduate \/ Diploma students<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s \/ PhD students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Research must address an industry challenge aligned with one of the five pillars of the National Beef Strategy: sustainability, connectivity, productivity, beef demand, or competitiveness (<a href=\"http:\/\/beefstrategy.com\/\">http:\/\/beefstrategy.com\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Competition Format<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Posters will be presented to a beef producer audience, and judging will prioritize clarity, relatability, and accessibility of the content.<\/li>\n<li>Poster evaluations, including a Q&amp;A session with your judges will take place in person at CBIC on Wednesday, August 19.<\/li>\n<li>From these evaluations, the top three students in each stream will advance to the final round on Thursday, August 20, where they will deliver a three-minute verbal presentation summarizing their research on the main-stage to compete for cash prizes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For students applying in the Master\u2019s \/ PhD stream, the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) is awarding two Graduate Student Sponsorships, covering travel, accommodation and registration expenses.\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/app.smartsheet.com\/b\/form\/b8148e6ab93247a9887eed0c52d04c7d\"><strong>Click here for more information.<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Participation Timeline<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 1st \u2013 June 1, 2026:<\/strong> Online abstract submission period<\/li>\n<li><strong>June-July 2026:<\/strong> Notification of accepted abstracts<\/li>\n<li><strong>August 19, 2026:<\/strong> Poster presentations<\/li>\n<li><strong>August 20, 2026:<\/strong> Finalist presentations\n<ul>\n<li>Top three students in each stream present 3\u2011minute summaries on the main stage<\/li>\n<li>Winners for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place announced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All students particpiating in the Poster Competition are required to register for the conference prior to the event and ALL Students will be provided a reduced rate ($400).\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An abstract is a short communication that allows readers to evaluate the contributions of a scientific study, method, industry solution, extension program, or research technique. To ensure clarity for a producer audience, abstracts should use clear, direct, and uncomplicated language.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Word limit:<\/strong> Maximum <strong>350 words<\/strong> (excluding the title).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Title:<\/strong> Must be concise, relevant to a producer audience, and no longer than <strong>25 words<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keywords:<\/strong> Include <strong>five<\/strong> keywords that reflect the primary themes of your abstract.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The <strong>first sentence<\/strong> must clearly state the main objective of the work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Methodology:<\/strong> Provide essential experimental or program details, such as:\n<ul>\n<li>Population or sample<\/li>\n<li>Experimental design<\/li>\n<li>Housing or environmental conditions (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Data collection procedures<\/li>\n<li>Statistical analyses performed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Results:<\/strong> Present results that directly address the stated objective, including appropriate statistical inferences.\n<ul>\n<li>One table or figure may be included if it is the most effective format for presenting results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong> Provide a clear conclusion outlining the effectiveness and\/or practical application of the results.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Authorship:<\/strong> The submitting student <strong>must<\/strong> be the presenting author.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/1gs9AofA982iDfor7\"><strong>[SUBMIT HERE]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Poster Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Poster size:<\/strong> Landscape orientation, <strong>36&#8243; \u00d7 48&#8243;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fonts:<\/strong> Use sans\u2011serif fonts (e.g., <em>Arial, Calibri<\/em>). Minimum font size: <strong>28 pt<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Image quality:<\/strong> All images must be <strong>300 DPI<\/strong> or higher for suitable print quality.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Authors:<\/strong> List authors in the following order: <strong>competitor \u2192 supervisor \u2192 committee members<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Headshot:<\/strong> Including a headshot of the competitor on the poster is <strong>encouraged<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Audience:<\/strong> Sections must be written in language for a cattle producers and industry audience.
