Join us on a unique tour of the south Okanagan. The dry interior landscape features expansive grasslands and is home to a long tradition of cattle ranching and a growing and vibrant wine industry.

Enjoy the day with stops at two cow calf ranches and lunch at a winery.

8:45 am –  Clifton Ranch, White Lake 

National recipients of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association Environmental Stewardship Award in 2019, the Clifton Ranch is operated by three generations of the Clifton family.  The ranch encompasses a cow-calf operation, bull test station and backgrounding lot in the Similkameen Valley.

The Clifton family has a twenty-year history of working with non-profit conservation groups to sustainably manage for over 31 plant and animal species at risk on sensitive grassland ecosystems.  Wade Clifton, along with The Nature Trust British Columbia, will speak to the partnerships created, a landscape level approach to biodiversity and how cattle management is synonymous with protecting conservation values.

11:00 am Tinhorn Creek Vineyard & Miradoro Restaurant

Learn about wine and the Okanagan wine industry through a winery tour and winetasting at Tinhorn Creek Winery in Oliver, BC while taking in the panoramic views of the valley below.

Lunch will be provided after the wine tasting.

As you walk through the tasting you will be given an order sheet to put your order on along with your credit card information.  After lunch you can pick up your order before returning to the bus to continue the tour. Founded in 1993, Tinhorn has a focus on growing the best grapes, making great wine, and having fun whenever they can. What started with a couple of barrels in the basement of a house and a few acres of vines has grown into a thriving winery in the south Okanagan. Award winning Executive Chef Jeff Van Geest of Miradoro Restaurant will prepare a delectable lunch featuring strip loin generously provided by Save-On-Foods.

3:30 pm Casorso Ranch, Oliver

Located on the grassland benches above Vaseaux Lake south of Okanagan Falls, Casorso Ranch was the recipient of the 2013 BC Environmental Stewardship Award presented by the BC Cattlemen’s Association.

Dave and Wanda Casorso operate a family run cow-calf operation. Dave will talk about the impacts of fire and forestry management in BC, managing for cattle and wildlife in a dry climate and their venture with their son establishing a cannabis grow operation.

Refreshment break generously provided by Barry Beecroft Fuel Distributors.
